A new kitchen installed as part of the major works programmeThis type of improvement is the most extensive type carried out by Bracknell Forest Homes and it takes place throughout the year. It is part of a five year programme to bring homes up to the Decent Homes Standard and beyond. The £61 million major works is one of the promises from the transfer from Bracknell Forest Council to Bracknell Forest Homes in February 2008 (please click here for history of Bracknell Forest Homes).

The improvements are usually made to properties that have been identified as needing modernisation works to bring them up to modern day standards. Extensive consultation is carried out with tenants before work commences.

The work carried out will generally include:

  • a rewire of the property
  • new upvc windows
  • new external doors
  • new kitchen units
  • new bathroom fittings
  • energy efficiency measures
