Government modernisation targets
The government has set all social housing providers a target of improving their properties by 2010. This target, known as the Decent Homes Standard, is driving the Bracknell Forest Homes programme of modernisation. In Bracknell Forest customers wanted a higher standard of improvements than the basic Decent Homes Standard so Bracknell Forest Homes is delivering the Bracknell Forest Standard.
A recent stock condition survey showed that the following works will be required in order to raise the standard of social homes in Bracknell Forest:
- double glazed windows
- replacement kitchens
- replacement bathrooms
- re-roofing
- replacement heating systems
