You can exchange your home with other housing association tenants if you are an assured tenant.
You can join the Mutual Exchange Scheme at any time. Please complete a form here telling us:
You can then contact directly the tenants of any possible matches that are found, to find out if their property is suitable for you and if they think your property is suitable for them.
The Mutual Exchange list is updated regularly and you can look at the list yourself at the reception in Time Square.
Initially you should complete a form with Bracknell Forest Council to be registered on the mutual exchange list. Please call the Council on 01344 352000 in the first instance. Once you have found a person you wish to exchange with Bracknell Forest Homes will process your mutual exchange application.
You can apply to move to a property that has one more bedroom than your household needs on the Home Exchange Scheme. For example, a couple with one child can exchange to a three bedroom house, provided that the household moving into their two bedroom property would not be overcrowded. Each application will be considered on its own merits.
The application will not normally be refused, unless one or both tenants are in rent arrears, or under Notice of Possession Proceedings. Both parties must sign an agreement that they accept their new home as seen.
We will not carry out improvements or redecorations following an exchange, unless these are part of a planned programme of work.
Bracknell Forest Homes has joined a national scheme called Homeswapper.
The Homeswapper scheme enables tenants across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to find people to swap homes with. It is the largest scheme operating in the UK with over 80,000 people registered. Bracknell Forest Homes will pay for you to register with Homeswapper and will have to approve the swap (or mutual exchange) when you find a suitable move.
Please contact us for further information by calling 0800 692 3000 or visit the Homeswapper website by clicking here.
