How to apply for a home

Bracknell Forest Council continues to assess housing needs. If you are interested in applying for a place on the housing waiting list please contact Bracknell Forest Council.

You will have to go through an assessment process where your needs and priority status are worked out. This will involve filling in some forms and might include a visit by an assessment officer. You will be awarded priority points using a scheme that is fair and regulated. Local residents take precedence.

If you see an empty property you would like to be offered you are welcome to contact Bracknell Forest Council and your interest will be noted. 
Please remember the following points:

  • The property may not belong to Bracknell Forest Homes. Many former Council properties have been sold
  • The property may have already been allocated to someone. Usually we identify a new tenant before a property has been vacated
  • The property may need major repairs or structural work which means that it cannot be allocated for some time
  • There are likely to be other applicants who are interested in the property, who may have higher priority than you.

Homeswapper

Homeswapper logoBracknell Forest Homes has joined a national scheme called Homeswapper.

The Homeswapper scheme enables tenants across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland to find people to swap homes with. It is the largest scheme operating in the UK with over 80,000 people registered. Bracknell Forest Homes will pay for you to register with Homeswapper and will have to approve the swap (or mutual exchange) when you find a suitable move.
